I learnt something today! This time again from my son..
He came back from school and supposedly there was a discussion in his class. And his teacher had asked the class as to who all have Moms who work. She was surprised when my ward did not put his hands up. And when quizzed he said – ‘My mom doesn’t work! She has her company”.. when my son came and told me this – I chided him saying – “It is not easy to run a business. It is so much of hard work and responsibility. You see me so busy, don’t you.. so on and so forth”
He just stared at me – and said after what seemed a long time ”Yes Mom – but that’s not work. That’s something else. ichiban is not work…you…. ACTUALLY FEEL it!!”
The way in which he said it with the mix of innocence and conviction made me realise what it is to “Not Work” ..
What it means to carry a part of your dream everyday…leave a part of it in every work you do – in every interaction you have…and feel exhausted, tired but happy and satisfied all the time (almost all the time).. There is not a day that goes without a bit of emotional high or low – every act of teamwork – be it cleaning office – having your team take independent baby steps – running UDAN – a happy client is a moment of intense celebration – the same way that red-tapism, laziness, lack of focus, casual attitude are major irritants. Every day the stage opens up for an action packed drama..
It dawned on me the best joy of entrepreneurship is the connect that we can have with what we do for our living.
And this blog today we all at ichiban dedicate it to all those entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs who FEEL it!!
